First things first...where was Rick Stookey tonight? The council members stated he would not be at the meeting. Rick told me on Memorial Day, he had resigned. So, I am confused as to what is going on. Maybe they are buying Harold Jones some time to decide on whom he should appoint. I mean really, can it get any worse???
The Area Plan Commission was in attendance and did a little presentation on what they can do for the community. Lets just say, there were a lot of people not happy. Bottom line, the next board meeting will be held at a larger venue where the residents of Leesburg can voice their opinions on the matter.
Early in the meeting, Tanya Wood struck quite the nerve of council member Moore. Tanya had heard some rumors and was trying to figure out if they were true about some appropriations. Moore grabbed the gavel and slammed it down. I believe Judge Joe Brown would have been proud. He thought she was attacking our current clerk treasurer and maybe in her own way she was. End result here, his outburst was an embarrassment.....
Brandon Queen was named as our new street commissioner. He is a young pup....my fear is that he will not be man enough to stand up to Moore and Jones and that he is impressionable. I hope he realizes that Jones and Moore may not be the best role models.
So I end this entry with the same words used to describe the software program that the town is using....
"Its a jumbled up mess"

Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteThis is the response I received from Girod and McSherry's office via email on town board elections.
They must hold an election for the voter’s of the town. The resolution is to ask the County Election Board to conduct their election for them. If they do not ask the county to conduct their election they must follow the same procedures we do and allow absentee voting, prepare their own ballots and appoint poll workers.
Some towns get away with having a town caucus. This is done if 4 republicans run for 3 positions, they have a caucus to determine which candidates will be on the “ballot” for that party in the general election. If they do not have any democrats, then those three chosen will automatically be town council.
This is for 2011 elections. I hope thier are some good canidates out there!

ReplyDeleteNo body's getting away with anything, that is the procedure, such as it is. It is your perogative as well as anyone elses to register within the given time frame for any of these positions for any applicable election cycle.
